Want to commit to democracy, but not so interested in, erm, all that politics business? Well, do we have the nominations for you.

The TV Quick and TV Choice Awards 2009 are taking votes now under a number of categories, and Red Dwarf: Back to Earth is on the Best Comedy list. If you loved it, click here to vote.

Meanwhile, at very much the opposite end of the scale, the Channel of the Year Awards 2009 are on their way from the Media Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival. Exciting because of the 'non-terrestrial' categories, both Dave and Back to Earth have already been voted into the shortlist! But it all depends on the live festival audience. A live vote takes place on Saturday, August 29th - hosted, bizarrely, by Michael McIntyre, who was part of Dave's original Red Dwarf announcement - and we're keeping fingers crossed for the Best Non-Terrestrial Programme Of The Year up against stiff competition from Being Human, The Inbetweeners, The Wire and, erm, Ross Kemp Returns to Afghanistan.

As ever, it's great to even make it onto the shortlists. Back to Earth surprised a lot of people, and brought record audiences to Dave. The question is: where do we go from here...?
