Cast Do Stuff

Red Dwarf people undertake tasks. We report. You read.

14 August, 2009

Chris Barrie

Let's start with the sweetest thing. Chris Barrie has donated his actual script from the making of Back to Earth to the Insulin Dependent Diabetes Trust. It's on eBay right now, with the auction closing on Wednesday, August 19th - click here for the auction. (We are wondering if 'sweetest' was really the best choice of word there...)

Chris is also appearing at the Haynes Rare Breeds Car Show & Autojumble in Yeovil, Somerset on Sunday the 6th of September. The perfect event for Red Dwarf's biggest petrol head, the day also features a guest appearance by Back to Earth's Carbug! Find out more from the Haynes Motor Museum website.

Simon The Sorcerer

Still in Barrietown, there's the news that Simon the Sorcerer has been released in the iTunes store to play on iPhone/iPod Touch. For those who don't remember, this was a point-and-click adventure about a boy wizard (waaay before it was what everyone was doing) with great jokes and the titular character voiced by Mr Barrie. Get transported to a world of goblins, spellbooks and moderately frustrating puzzles here.

Tongue Tied

Over now to Danny John-Jules whose big news is... he has a website! It's dannyjohn-jules.com and already there's reason enough to visit - Danny's self-directed Tongue Tied video. Never able to be included on the regular Dwarf DVDs, this is a rare chance to sit back and think 'Hey, they should have put that version of the main theme tune on the end of one of the episodes'.

Danny John-Jules

Danny's also now on Twitter, which makes him the second Red Dwarf cast member, after Mr Llewellyn, who'll be giving away stuff before it's ready to be announced. And yes, we know that only encourages you to sign up to their feeds.

Robert Llewellyn

Speaking of Robert Llewellyn, he's appearing at Boffoonery, a comedy benefit for Bletchley Park. (Aren't our cast philanthropic?) Tickets are available now for the gig, which takes place on November 3rd at The Bloomsbury Theatre. Learn more here. Go on. Go and learn things.

Hattie Hayridge

Robert's website has also had had bit of a style revamp recently, though it's nowhere near as brilliant as the site for his Car Pool project - an on-the-road interview series that includes names from all across British entertainment. And Red Dwarf.

One-time Holly Hattie Hayridge will be joining Robert for the Glasgow Collectormania taking place on Sunday Aug 30th - more of that here. They'll sign stuff and talk to you. It's everso lovely.

Craig Charles

Finally, Craig Charles continues to appear in little-known social drama Coronation Street on ITV1, and when he's not pretending to drive a cab he's on BBC digital radio station 6music with The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show. (We had to type that very carefully.) You can listen to it on the internet if you don't have one of those fancy modern radio things, and there are videos on the web page.

And that's it. Oh, and Doug Naylor's busy doing... something. We'll have to tell you about it sometime.
