Dwarf Featured In American Cinematographer

Plus: support Danny John Jules' charity auction!

16 October, 2009

This month the prestigious American Cinematographer magazine is covering, in some detail, the technical side of Red Dwarf: Back to Earth's production. The official publication of the ASC spoke to director Doug Naylor, director of photography Andy Martin and effects supervisor Mike Seymour about the complex shooting process - covering digital sets, the Red One cameras, post-production workflow... all the techy stuff that sometimes goes ignored.

It's a fascinating piece, and comes complete with some terrific - and rarely seen - behind the scenes images. (Plus a nifty diagram showing the process each shot - effects or otherwise - had to go through.) Copies of the mag are available from all really impressive newsagents.

Also happening right now - and ending on Monday, October 19th - is an online auction organised by Cat actor Danny John-Jules. The eBay auction is happening right now, with bids coming in for a massive picture of the Red Dwarf crew, signed by all four main cast members.

The auction is happening on behalf of the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust, a charity so worthwhile that Mr John-Jules is also offering the winner the chance to meet him in person!
