Funk and Soul

Craig's new compilation album.

14 December, 2012

Aside (of course) from Red Dwarf, Craig Charles' longest-running job has been over at BBC Radio 6Music, having presented his brilliant and eclectic Funk and Soul Show since March 2002 - also the longest-running show on the station.

Funk and Soul

And now, those of you without DAB radios or iPlayer access to to catch him on a Saturday evening - or live at the various Funk and Soul Club dates that have taken place around the country (including a special set at last year's Dimension Jump convention!) - can experience a taster of the sort of fare he dishes up on a weekly basis courtesy of The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club - The Album! Let us hand you over to the man himself to tell you more:

This CD contains 19 rip snorting, bass drum banging, brass blaring booga-bloody-loo, big beats, bass lines and blooming brilliant vocals. From as far away as Australia with The Bamboo's ultimate party starter Amen Brother, to The Excitements coming out of Barcelona - boy can she rattle your glasses! I bring you some cover versions that have surely got to be better than the real thing, like Nostalgia 77 & Alice Russell's take on The White Stripes '7 Nation Army'.

All these tunes are guaranteed to tear the roof off any venue festival or house party in the known universe. Enjoy and remember ...no sleep till bedtime!"

Released by Freestyle Records, the full tracklisting - hand-picked by Craig himself - is as follows:
