Howard Gets Inspired

New Goodall album out now.

18 January, 2013

Late last year we told you that music maestro Howard Goodall (yes, we do have to call him "maestro" every time we mention him) had recorded brand new piano versions of the Red Dwarf theme and Tongue Tied for release on a new compilation album. Well, guess what? Said album is now available!

Howard Gets Inspired

Inspired, which was released by Decca Records in conjunction with Classic FM on 14th January, contains some of Howard's finest work, both old and new. In addition to the Red Dwarf tracks, and a number of brand new exclusive compositions, you'll find versions of some of his most famed TV themes, including Mr Bean, The Vicar of Dibley and Blackadder Goes Forth. The album features guest performers including Craig Ogden, Noah Stewart, Laura Wright and Howard's own choir, Enchanted Voices.

The tracklisting of the standard edition, which is available on CD or for MP3 download, is as follows:

  1. Inspired
  2. Ecce Homo (Theme from Mr Bean)
  3. Piano Fantasy: Tongue-Tied
  4. Agnus Dei
  5. Shackleton's Cross
  6. Pro alios curantibus
  7. Psalm 23: The Lord Is My Shepherd (Theme from The Vicar of Dibley)
  8. Nocturnes
  9. Blackadder Went Forth
Every Purpose Under the Heaven (The King James Bible Oratorio):
  1. In the Beginning
  2. There is a Season
  3. I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes
  4. Thee and Me
  5. Fulfilled in One Word
  6. I Was a Stranger
  7. Blessed
  8. Never Faileth
  9. The Light of the World
  10. A New Heaven, A New Earth

If you fancy getting even more classical, however, you can also get the deluxe edition from iTunes - which among its four bonus tracks includes the special Red Dwarf theme re-recording. Both this and the Tongue Tied Piano Fantasy, meanwhile, are also still available as a special two-track single, also on iTunes.
