Bank Holiday Dwarf
Fan Club convention and Dave repeats.
3 May, 2013
You'll have to excuse us for being overexcited: our dancing shoes have been in storage for almost two years. But we're delighted to say that the biggest weekend in the Red Dwarf fan calendar, the official fan club convention Dimension Jump XVII, is finally upon us!
The weekend kicks off at 5.30pm today (Friday 3rd), although fans who've pre-booked their weekend passes (all capacity-filling 350 of them!) can turn up from 1pm to sign in, collect their guest pack, and maybe even get that all-important ##1 wristband! There will also be a very limited number of weekend and Saturday-only passes available on the day for those who didn't manage to pre-book, but if you're after one of these you'll have to get in there quickly!
The event, which will run until Sunday evening, promises all manner of fantastic Red Dwarf-based shenanigans, with guest appearances from an all-star lineup including Doug Naylor, Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn, Danny John-Jules, Tony Hawks and a plethora of other stars from Series X and earlier. Aside from the guest Q&As and autographs there'll also be fun and games, merchandise auctions, a special Pointless-style quiz for a handful of lucky fans, film and episode screenings... not to mention the famous Saturday night costume competition and disco.
(For those who aren't able to make it to the convention, however, you haven't been forgotten about! On Saturday 4th May, our chums at Dave are doing one of their occasional Dwarf marathons, running the entirety of Series V and VI one after the other from 12pm, before showing Back to Earth: The Directors Cut at 9pm and the tenth-anniversary Smeg Ups compilation at 11.30pm.)
Meanwhile, if you need more in the way of last-minute information about Dimension Jump, head over to the convention website or the fan club's dedicated DJ Twitter account. And whether you're there or not, if you want to keep up with what everyone's saying about the weekend check out our constantly-updating widget below.
Tweets about "#DJXVII"You can join in the conversation, too! Use the hashtag #DJXVII to share your thoughts and photos, and we may even feature some of the best comments in our convention roundup afterwards! Please note, however, that we cannot be bribed with beer. Although if you bump into us, you're welcome to try...
While Grant Naylor Productions fully supports the Dimension Jump convention, please note that it is not a GNP event and is organised and run by the official Fan Club.
