Dakar Danny

Motorbike odyssey hits the small screen.

8 November, 2013

We've reported before on Danny John-Jules' penchant for motorbike-based adventures - but his 2012 challenge, Dakar Dreams, is surely the most gruelling of the lot. Along with fellow bike enthusiast Graham Hopkins, Danny spent several weeks in Spring 2012 attempting to recreate the infamous route of the 1996 Dakar rally, from Granada to Senegal, in aid of the charity Riders for Health.

Did they succeed? Well, that's what you'll have to tune in to find out - because the odyssey was captured on camera every step of the way, and has been turned into a six-part TV series, which you can see in its entirety this Sunday 10th November at 1pm, on the Extreme Sports Channel. The six episodes are running back to back until 4pm - and then again from 8pm-11pm - giving you every opportunity to undergo an endurance test almost as taxing as the one Danny and Graham did.

Extreme Sports is available in the UK on Sky channel 419 and Virgin Media channel 527, if you have the broadcasters' "Entertainment Plus" or "XL" packages respectively. If you aren't able to catch the series, you can read Danny and Graham's diary of the trip at dakardreams.wordpress.com - also handy if you want to give yourself some advance spoilers...
