Summer Of Soul (And Funk)

Catch Craig's latest live DJing dates!

17 June, 2016

Summer brings with it all kinds of fun things - and no, we're not just talking about the constant questions about when you'll see and hear more about Red Dwarf XI, but we can assure you you won't be waiting too long on that front. It's also, of course, a pretty fertile time for music festivals - and so it's unsurprising that the coming months will see a slew of live dates from Craig Charles, as he takes his Funk and Soul Club out on the road.

Summer Of Soul (And Funk)

Now, as it happens, Craig gigs throughout the year pretty intensively anyway - we've long wondered how he fits it all in alongside what are now two ongoing radio shows - but aside from his ongoing club dates, the months of June, July and August are also a pretty good time to get to see him outdoors while employing time in a profitless and non-practical way.

Here are the various outdoor and weekend events that Craig will be doing sets at in the next few months:

Sat 2nd July Hebden Bridge Arts Festival Hebden Bridge
Thur 7th - Mon 11th July Electric Elephant Festival Petrcane, Croatia
Fri 22nd - Sun 24th July Blackthorn Music Festival Stockport
Sat 23rd July Tramlines 2016 Sheffield
Sun 24th July Liverpool International Music Festival Liverpool
Fri 29th July Y Not Festival Matlock
Thur 4th-Sun 7th August Kaya Festival Port Talbot
Thur 4th- Mon 8th August Soundwave Croatia Petrcane, Croatia
Thur 11th - Sun 14th August Boomtown Fair 2016 Winchester
Fri 26th - Sun 28th August Solfest 2016 Aspatria
Sun 28th August Riverside Live 2016 Chester-le-Street
Mon 29th August House of Common London
Thur 1st - Sun 4th September Festival No. 6 Portmeirion
Fri 2nd - Sun 4th September Valley Fest 2016 Bristol

The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that some of those weekends overlap with one-another - so if you're interested in getting single-day tickets to any of the festivals, we suggest checking out their websites to see if you can find out exactly which day Craig is playing on. You may also have spotted that there are not one, but two dates in Croatia coming up - so if you're in Eastern Europe and have always wanted to see Craig, now's your chance...

With so many weekend festivals on, it's unsurprising that the regular Funk and Soul Club schedule has been scaled back a bit, but nevertheless, here are the ordinary club nights that are coming up too:

Friday 17th June Bristol, Thekla
Saturday 18th June Old Granada Studios, Manchester
Friday 1st July Fibbers, York
Saturday 30th July Band on the Wall, Manchester
Friday 19th August The Venue, Derby

And don't forget that you can replicate the Funk and Soul Club experience in the comfort of your very own home with Craig's compilation albums, and his weekly radio shows on BBC 6music and Radio 2! How much more funk could you possibly want...?
