Scary Christmas

Craig Charles' latest poetry extravaganza.

21 September, 2018

It's A Wonderful Life. Wallace & Gromit. The Snowman. Trading Places. There are so many Christmas story traditions, and everybody's got their own favourites. But Craig Charles is making a play for your festive attention this year, with a live show that will see him once again bringing his Scary Fairy series to life.

Scary Christmas

Scary Fairy began life as a set of bedtime poems that Craig composed for his own children's bedtimes - but began to reach a wider audience in 2015, when he rewrote one of them as a performance piece and teamed up with composer Iain Farrington and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra to record Scary Fairy: Red Riding Hood for BBC Radio.

In 2016, a live performance of Scary Fairy: Hansel and Gretel was similarly performed to music and broadcast early in 2017 - and now, once again, Craig and Iain have teamed up with the Orchestra for The Scary Fairy Saves Christmas, with Craig promising that the show will be "a fairy tale for children of all ages".

The performance is taking place this time at The Lowry Theatre, Salford on Wednesday 5th December. Tickets are on sale now - but move quickly, as with only one night's performance, it's sure to be a popular one...
