Czech It Out

Červený trpaslík XII landing this month!

10 May, 2019

You might recall back in November that fans in the Czech Republic became the lucky first foreign-language recipients of the most recent series of Red Dwarf, with Series XI airing on the local channel CT2 (Česká televize). So we're pleased to report that the follow up Red Dwarf XII is now also making it over for Czech broadcast for the first time!

Czech It Out

It's a little later after the XI run than we initially expected - but still only half the time that fans in the UK had to wait between series! - but the airings will start on Wednesday 15th May, in the new timeslot of 11pm (CET).

As with all previous series, the dubbing cast of Kamil Halbich (Rimmer), Martin Sobotka (Lister), Miroslav Vladyka (Cat) and Zdeněk Dušek (Kryten) have returned; and what's more, for the various returning characters in the series, the actors who originally dubbed the voices of Holly (Miroslav Táborský), Captain Hollister (Zdeněk Dolanský) and Talkie Toaster (Jiří Knot) have all reprised those roles!

We're also told that Jan Maxián (Cured's Hitler), in a nice piece of symmetry with his English counterpart Ryan Gage, is an actor who grew up watching Red Dwarf as a fan! The dubbing is directed by Janoš Vaculík, while long-time translator Helena Rejžková returns - calling on the assistance of an online Star Trek dictionary to help with some of the technical terms!

So if you happen to be in front of a telly in the Czech Republic throughout May and June, you can look forward to catching the episodes Vyléčení, Silikonie, Časová vlna, Robokracie, M-Corp and Skokan each Wednesday night!

We'll bring you news on international disc releases, as well as any further foreign transmissions, as soon as we have it...

Find out more and check the listings at the CT2 website!

With thanks to Jan Kolínský for bringing us some of this information!
