The Docs Are Landing

Red Dwarf: The First Three Million Years - weekly in August!

17 July, 2020

We're delighted to let you know that there's not long left now before Dave takes us all on the nostalgia journey of a lifetime (or, well, several thousand lifetimes) - with the three-part documentary series Red Dwarf: The First Three Million Years confirmed to make its debut on the channel on Thursday 6th August at 9pm.

The Docs Are Landing

What's more, we can reveal the title not just of the first hour-long episode in the series, but of the two that will follow on successive Thursdays (with all episodes, of course, going up on UKTV Play on demand shortly afterwards), to boot!

Part 1 (6 August): The Boys from the Dwarf
Part 2 (13 August): In Studio Space No-One Can Hear You Scream
Part 3 (20 August): Playing Pool With Planets

The documentary series, produced by North One Television, promises to look at the history of the show with fresh eyes - with all the major cast members interviewed along with co-creator, writer and director Doug Naylor, crew members, and even some celebrity fans. Whether Mr Blobby is making a return appearance this time round, though, we couldn't say.

Even for those fans who've got every DVD set on the shelf, there'll be newly-dug-up archive material and fresh insight and analysis - whether that's exploration of the show's future science or behind-the-scenes stories about who partied the hardest.

And if that's not enough exciting Red Dwarf action for the coming weeks, we've also now had confirmation of how and where you can watch the gang talking live about The Promised Land, as part of the San Diego Comic-Con@Home!

On Sunday 26th July at 1pm Pacific Time (that's 9pm here in the UK on BST!) you can join Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn and Doug Naylor live on YouTube discussing the show. Unlike the regular Comic-Con, you don't need any kind of ticket or pass - just head on over to the Comic-Con website to get the YouTube link.

It might not be the same as being in California, but at least it's cheaper...

Keep up with all the latest happenings over at @RedDwarfHQ!
