Ashens And The Polybius Heist

New independent comedy heist, starring Robert Llewellyn.

13 November, 2020

Whether it's a theatrical re-issue of the definitive Beardsley & Binglebat Casablanca, or a lovingly restored 4K Die Screaming With Sharp Things In Your Head Blu-ray (complete with original Italian soundtrack and collector's edition 'sharp things' lobby cards), we're always pleased to see indie filmmakers, and the indie film scene in general, continuing to thrive.

And it's even more thrilling when we see one of our own in there; so we were delighted to find that Robert Llewellyn is starring in the soon-to-be-released Ashens and the Polybius Heist, 'a comedy heist movie where Ashens must steal the most infamous video game of all: Polybius.'

A direct sequel to 2013's Ashens and the Quest for the GameChild, the film is directed by Riyad Barmania, who co-wrote the script together with its star, YouTuber Stuart Ashen, and also features Daniel Hardcastle, Barry Lewis, Eli Silverman, Stuart Barter, Alyssa Kyria, Jarred Christmas, Yiannis Vassilakis, Katia Kvinge, Nigel Fairs, Joanna O'Connor, Dan Tomlinson, Jonti Picking, and Bec Hill.

Here's the trailer and synopsis:

Five years after finding the elusive knock-off toy known as the GameChild, tat-obsessed collector Ashens has continued to find rare gaming gadgets. But now it's time for the biggest challenge of his life. He must put a crew together and attempt to steal the most infamous video game of all time: the legendary Polybius, the mind-bending arcade game thought to be an urban legend. Just think of it as Ashens' Eleven!

Speaking with reddwarf.co.uk, co-writer and star of the film, Stuart Ashen said, "We're absolutely over the moon to have Robert reprise his role as The Professor in our new film. It's always a joy to work with Robert - not only is he one of the world's nicest people but he's a great comic actor. He's always keen to take part and a lot of fun on set. His scenes still make me laugh every time I see them, and as one of the film makers I've seen them more times than I can count!"

We strongly encourage the support of independent filmmakers and artists right now, and we can't wait to see the film when it releases next week.

Ashens and the Polybius Heist is released on the 19th of November and available to pre-order on VOD services now.
