Moneybags

Craig Charles' brand-new gameshow comes to Channel 4 later this year.

9 July, 2021

He's attempted to outsmart the collective knowledge of the British public on Pointless; he's faced quiz champion Anne Hegarty twice on The Chase and Britain's Brightest Celebrity Family; and he's even braved the perils of the British coast in Don't Rock the Boat. Now, our favourite part-time trivia pedlar and endurance champion, Craig Charles, is handing the next challenge over to someone else entirely, as he takes on the presenting duties for Channel 4's latest game show, Moneybags. Here's what we know, so far:

In this high-stakes quiz that puts mental speed to the test, contestants face a series of questions with the answers on moneybags that pass along a conveyor belt in front of them. Grab a right answer and you get that bag's value - anything from £1,000 to £100,000. But pick a wrong bag and you could lose everything. Every week a massive £1 million will pass down the conveyor belt - it's just up to our players to grab it.

On the show Craig said, "I've always wanted to host a quiz show, but this is the first one that's felt perfect for me. With a million pounds at stake each week you never know what's going to happen. I'm looking forward to having fun with our contestants as they make life-changing decisions."

And that's not all, because the producers are currently looking for participants:

We're looking for fun and outgoing contestants from across the UK to take part. We give you all the answers, all you need to do is grab them if you think they're correct! Apply now by CLICKING HERE.

It goes without saying that we'd love to see someone from the Red Dwarf fan community appearing in the show, so if you meet the selection criteria specified in the T&Cs and you can attend the filming dates, then you know what to do. Moneybags will be recorded in Manchester later this month and the deadline for applications is today. So, if you haven't already done so, you'd best get a wriggle on! Good luck to those of you who apply.

Moneybags will be produced by Youngest Media and the initial 30 x 60-minute episodes are expected to be shown on Channel 4 later this year. We'll bring you more information when we have it.
