Merchandise, Music and More

All the latest news from the Red Dwarf posse.

27 August, 2021

It's once again time to check in with the cast and crew of Red Dwarf to see what they've been up to, and more importantly, to see what they've got coming up. This time, we have exclusive Fan Club merchandise, live appearances from two cast members, the surprising reveal of a football stadium's new name, and the latest single from a popular guest star.

First up, the Fan Club team have been hard at work at the Crowne Plaza Nottingham, getting everything in place for the largest gathering of Red Dwarf fans since... Well, the previous Dimension Jump. As always, one of the highlights of a new convention is the exclusive merchandise on offer, and true to form the team have exceeded our expectations once again. This year, attendees can expect to get their hands on this extraordinary collection of miniatures:

These 32mm figurines have been sculpted and produced by Andrew from Recluse Studio and Ben from Master Crafted Miniatures, and a limited number will be available exclusively at DJXXI for the price of £35.99 for the set. To register your interest in picking them up, go to the Fan Club's website and sign up. Dimension Jump XXI will take place at the Crowne Plaza Nottingham on the 10-12th September. Race you to the merchandise room!

And if you weren't lucky enough to get your hands on a ticket to DJ but don't want to miss out on all the excitement, then you may want to get yourself to Nottingham this weekend, where you could meet Danny John-Jules and Hattie Hayridge at EM-Con.

Danny and Hattie will join a host of guests from the world of science fiction and fantasy, including Doctor Who, Game of Thrones and Star Trek. Billed as "East Midland's biggest popular culture event," EM-Con will take place on the 28th and 29th August at Motorpoint Arena Nottingham. You can find more info, including how get your tickets, on their website.

This next item was very unexpected. When you see Robert Llewellyn's YouTube channel Fully Charged in the news you expect something about pioneering sustainability research perhaps, or maybe a review of the latest in electric vehicle technology. This time, however, we learnt the surprising news that the channel has had the unexpected honour of having a football stadium named after it:

That's right, the League Two football club Forest Green Rovers have re-named their stadium "The Fully Charged New Lawn" to highlight the channel's commitment to clean energy technology. On the unusual development, Robert said, "It's a real privilege, for what began as a humble YouTube channel, to be associated with a pioneering organisation like Forest Green Rovers. We love spreading the word about clean energy and electric vehicles and this will really help us get to a larger audience around the world."

We wish Robert and the team the best of luck and hope this is only the beginning of a fruitful partnership for both.

And finally, some welcome news from one-time Howard Rimmer-actor Mark Dexter, who has released his brand-new single, Pray:

Since his appearance is Series X's Trojan, Mark has really embraced the Red Dwarf community with memorable appearances at both DJ and Holly Hop. We've really enjoyed his releases so far, and if you haven't already done so, we recommend you give them a try. You can stream Pray, as well as Mark's previous musical outings, on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, and all the places you get your music.

Come back next week for all the latest Red Dwarf news.
