Did You Know?

Terrorform holds the distinction of being the only Red Dwarf episode whose original broadcast version has never been repeated or re-released - thanks to the use of a James Last recording of "Copacabana" in the opening scene. The track was only licensed for one initial broadcast, so all subsequent showings (and the VHS and DVD releases) use a substituted soundalike version.

The design of the Self Loathing Beast in this episode had originally been sketched by effects guru Mike Tucker for a creature called The Destroyer in the 1989 Doctor Who story "Battlefield". Having been unused at that time in favour of another design, Tucker repurposed the creation here - although the creature was ultimately never seen in full onscreen. A cut shot of the monster looming over Starbug can be seen on the Series V DVD.

The Shepperton swamp used to film the boating sequences proved hazardous for lighting director John Pomphrey and two crew members - who fell into the water during filming!
