Series X lands on Amazon Instant in the US.

12 September, 2014

It's been almost two years since Red Dwarf X was first broadcast in the UK (doesn't time fly, eh?) but one question we still get asked a lot is when the series will be fully available to viewers over in the United States. There's been some movement on that front thanks to the PBS showings that have gradually taken place - not to mention the Region 1 DVD and Blu-ray release - but so far it hasn't been possible to catch the latest series if you're outside certain catchment zones and haven't been able to pick up the discs.

Prime Directive

Well, until now. Because we're pleased to report that Series X has been added to Amazon Prime Instant Video in the US, meaning that if you have a Prime subscription, you can now stream all six episodes immediately at no additional cost!

In fact, this is actually the first time that Red Dwarf X has been available on any subscription-based streaming service: while the episodes are also available on all of Amazon Instant Video, Xbox Video and iTunes here in the UK, in all cases you can only purchase them individually, rather than their being included in a subscription model. And while US fans also have the option of watching Red Dwarf on Netflix (something that's sadly currently unavailable in the UK), the catalogue there only covers the first eight series and Back to Earth.

If you have an Amazon US Prime account, or are willing to pay the $99 fee to sign up, you can head on over to amazon.com and watch the episodes from the comfort of your computer (or appropriate mobile device) right now. As for anyone else, well, we did mention those shiny disc and iTunes options already, right...?

Keep up with all the places you can see Red Dwarf in our Watch section.
