Event-ful Months

Chris and Craig back on the convention circuit.

19 September, 2014

You know, the last time we rounded up the various convention appearances of Red Dwarf cast members, we were fairly convinced that summer was the hottest season for sci-fi events. But as it turns out, these sort of gatherings have become such a big industry these days that they're a pretty constant staple all year round. We blame Game of Thrones and its ridiculously massive cast for there needing to be so many to fit them all in.

Event-ful Months

Anyway, as you'd expect, these events continue to be a great chance for Dwarf fans up and down the country to meet the show's stars - and once again, that's true of a slate of upcoming events. October and November see several large conventions taking place in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and while it's still early days in some cases for the full guest lists to be announced, you can already see certain familiar names on some of them.

First up is the Play Expo, a predominantly videogames-themed affair that's at Manchester's EventCity on 11th-12th October. Despite its name, there's a film and TV-based sub-section, dubbed "ScreenPlay", which will feature both Craig Charles and Chris Barrie among its guests. Craig will be there on both the Saturday and the Sunday, while Chris - in true Seventh Day Advent Hoppist fashion - is only there for Saturday.

Next on the slate is the London Winter Film & Comic-Con, taking place at London's Earl's Court on 18th-19th October. This is the second LFCC event of the year after the hugely popular Summer one in July, and it'll see Chris in attendance, again on the Saturday only.

Over in Wales, meanwhile, the Cardiff Film & Comic-Con can be found at the Motorpoint Arena on 8th-9th November, and it's Craig's turn to rock up. And once again, there's double the opportunity to meet him, as he'll be there on both days.

And in the historic (hey, it was in Superman IV, don't you know) surroundings of Milton Keynes, there's Collectormania 22, at Stadium:MK on 15th-16th November. And we're back to Chris again, as the one confirmed Dwarf guest so far - and yes, you guessed it, you can only catch him there on the Saturday.

At all of these events, the standard protocol is that the guests sit behind a clearly marked autograph table for most of the day, at which you can queue up and pay £15 to get them to scribble on something. But if you book in advance, you can also get yourself a photograph - again for £15 - taken with them in a posed "studio"-style photoshoot. Find out more and book your tickets in each case at the respective websites.

And keep your eye on the convention sites to see if any more Dwarfers get added - we'll also let you know about any major additions of note. We're still waiting to see if our favourite star ("Bumblebee Costume Man" from Stasis Leak) gets added to any of the guest lists...

Tell us if we've missed any Red Dwarf cast sightings over in the Forum!
