13 April, 2001

Having had massive success with their previous on-line competition, BBC America - the national cable and satellite channel in the USA - have launched a second prize-winning campaign.

Visitors to bbcamerica.com have the chance to vote for their all-time top five Red Dwarf episodes. The vote is open until Sunday, April 29th and the winning episodes will be broadcast on the station on Friday, May 4th at 8pm (ET), and the competition winner will scoop a complete Red Dwarf video collection.

Cable Voting

Viewers can vote for any five episodes they like, but among the favourites are: Polymorph, Camille, Quarantine, Psirens, Gunmen of the Apocalypse, Emohawk: Polymorph II, Tikka to Ride, Epideme, Nanarchy and Krytie TV.

Red Dwarf has done extremely well for BBC America on both on air and online, Judy Coan-Stevens of BBC America told reddwarf.co.uk. Talking numbers for the web, the 2001 Space Odyssey game (which ran during January) saw over 5,750 people play about 90,300 games. Since we launched that game, the Red Dwarf section of bbcamerica.com has seen about 324,000 page impressions!

And how has this new competition fared? The week-old Viewer's Choice Vote has already gotten over 500 votes. Quarantine is in the lead at the moment with 17% of the vote. This is all great news for us and for Red Dwarf. People LOVE this show!
