Nordic iPlayer

How much more international can the International iPlayer get?!

21 October, 2011

When BBC Worldwide's International iPlayer for the iPad first launched in July, it took in these countries: Germany, Italy, Spain, France, The Republic of Ireland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal, Switzerland and Austria.

Then in September that list was expended to include Australia.

Now, here we are in October and three more countries have been added to the list - the Nordic territories of Finland, Denmark and Sweden.

The sheer volume of content - which includes British shows beyond just the BBC's own channel output - and the clearances required must be mind-boggling. But more importantly, with Series I to III of Red Dwarf now available it's a pleasure to imagine the residents of Denmark enjoying Rimmer getting stuck with Petersen's rogue limb: "I've got the arm of a Danish Moron..."

The Global iPlayer is available from iTunes.
